My name is Sofia Fresia, I live and work in the upper Val Bormida. I studied Painting at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin.
My artistic practice arises from the desire to observe and critically rework contemporaneity, especially the new difficulties and responsibilities that being part of a very fast changing society entails today.
Through brightly colored paintings I try to suggest an interpretation of today’s life that is less gray and more proactive, an invitation to see a glimmer of light even in these uncertain times.
The elements present in my canvases often have an autobiographical reference, linked to my experience as a swimmer and hiking lover.

The works I create are mainly oil paintings on canvas, sometimes in association with recycled materials.
Inside them, the visual references linked to my experience give life to surreal compositions that intend to provide ideas for active reflection on specific environmental and social issues, also linked to the search for one’s own path and identity in a constantly changing world.
