The painting is part of ‘Corpi in transito‘ project, that was created with the intention of reflecting on certain dynamics that characterize interpersonal relationships now a day. Using a simple almost geometric figuration, the paintings present imaginary scenarios in which title, context, and characters help delineate characteristics or situations that relate to the difficulties of human relationships within a society of images and consumption.
In The Square, a solitary figure stands out in the center of the empty space: the work provocatively references the loneliness reported by so many people in hyper-urbanized contexts; we are surrounded by other human beings at all hours of the day, but we connect with no one and don’t even know what our neighbor looks like.
